The year is 1966. In a small town called Rivière-du-Loup (eastern Canada), Jacques Pomerleau, a man of vision whose passion is racing boats, starts his small business of selling and repairing boats. These are the beginnings of Pomerleau. In the area, boating industry is really at its first steps and is more an art than a business. But J. Pomerleau is fueled with passion, conviction and live by the motto: "It’s easier to convince someone when you are already sold to the idea".

It is 1972. The company is growing to a point that the workplace is becoming rapidly too small… It is time to move! In fall of that same year, a new workplace is found on Cartier’s Boulevard near Rivière-du-Loup. The first company’s building is built. 6 000 sq. ft !
It is 1975. Pomerleau is still growing fast...very fast. More space is definitely needed. Business space is doubled. New services are offered like a fiberglass repairing service and boat rooftop crafting. In 1978, a new warehouse covering 4000 sq. ft is built.
The year is now 1984. The son of Jacques, Christian, now runs the business and starts a new company. “Pomerleau Marine inc” is born. New markets are targeted. Sailboat (very popular in those time) takes a bigger part of the success for the company. New relations take form and agreements are made with European manufacturers. Demand is at its peak. Once again, more space is needed. In 1986, a 5000 sq. ft repair shop is built. All actions are taken to help maximize production and profitability. The company’s renown makes his way into the ears of customers all around Canada and the U.S. People are coming from far distances to get a hand on Pomerleau Marine expertise.
It is 1988. A new associate join the company, Hugues Cantin. his role is to ensure the administrative monitoring of the company. The same year, an adjacent lot is bought and all inventory is rearranged. In 1995, a new warehouse/show-room is built and covers 6000 sq. ft.
More recently, in 2000, a new launching ramp and many floating docks are installed on “Rivière-du-Loup” river, giving a sea-access to all Pomerleau Marine’s clients. In 2004, the main showroom and the storefront are redesigned and remodeled up to date.
In 2005, a significant restructuring of the products storage system is achieved on the yard. There is also the installation of a “pigeon-hole” steel structure that can store up to forty boats. Finally, it is in 2005 that Pomerleau marine acquires of many lift trucks built for recreational sailing lifting.
Then, between 2011 and the end of 2012, Pomerleau Marine wins multiple awards. The award of the Best seller is given by Larson Boats. Pomerleau was also nominated “Rookie of the year” on it’s first year selling Harris pontoons in Canada. A year later, Pomerleau became the top-dealer of Harris pontoons in Canada. Those years, Pomerleau Marine also won the Crestliner Top-dealer award in Canada and 3rd place in North America. Pomerleau became a proud Mastercraft dealer in 2013.
Until today, 3 generations were involved in Pomerleau Marine’s growth. The customer driven approach before and after sale, the guarantee of the best offer and the passion that animates all members of Pomerleau Marine have been the main reasons of our success.
